Summit Group brought ‘Strategic Changes’ in its leadership

Summit Group, one of the leading conglomerates of Bangladesh in the energy and telecom sectors has brought some changes in its leadership. The change has been termed as a ‘strategic change’ by the company's board of directors.

Zafar Ummid Khan has been made the Chairman of Summit Oil and Shipping Company Limited (SOSCL) in this strategic change, which will come into effect from April 17. Apart from him, Latif Khan has been made the Chairman of the listed company Summit Power Limited (SPL) which came into effect from today. Before that, they were the Vice chairmen of the two companies.

Before that, Farid Khan served as Chairman of Summit Communications Limited and Summit Towers Limited from 28 December 2021 and 30 May 2022.

Muhammad Aziz Khan, the founder chairman of Summit Group, will be the chairman of Summit Corporation Limited, the holding company of Summit's power generation companies, and Summit Power International of Singapore. Apart from this, he will perform the duties of a director of other companies under the group.

This information was learnt in a notification published by the company on Monday.

Muhammad Aziz Khan, founder chairman of Summit Group, confirmed about this change in leadership and said, 'Being able to contribute to the infrastructure development of Bangladesh through Summit is one of the best achievements of my life. I have been planning a change in leadership responsibilities for over a decade. As part of this, initially we brothers involved our children in the business and my brothers were serving as Vice Chairmen of the Company. I turn 70 this year and it is a good time to welcome new leadership. As the largest infrastructure developer of the country, we are always aware of our responsibility towards the country and the nation. I humbly seek prayers and support from all for the successful journey of the new leadership.'

Zafar Ummid Khan, who took over as the Chairman of Summit Oil and Shipping, said, 'I hope to pass this company on to the next generation in a more successful state. This is my main goal now.'

Latif Khan said, 'We will serve in the new position under the guidance of our dear elder brother and founder chairman. I am personally committed to Aziz Bhai and Summit.'
